Ahem!!

BIG CHANGES ARE HAPPENING!

For the next few months, we’re going to move to spoken word. That’s right. No more writing — only speaking our stories. So, instead of posting your writing, you’re now invited to post videos that are complete with hand gestures, meaningful pauses, and anything you can use for dramatic effect. Think fog machines, spotlights, and curtains.

I think this will help get our creativity flowing big-time.

Haaaaaaa haaaaa. April FOOLS!!!!!

Did I get ya?? Were you convinced???

So, we’re NOT stopping writing, but we are going to explore a reset of sorts. After an awesome, cozy discussion with AnaGloria and Christin on the Speakeasy call on Saturday, we’re going to revisit the prompts we did at the very beginning. (Great suggestion, Ana!)

Not only will this make the journey more inclusive and welcoming for new members (We’ve got some more coming in!!), but if you’ve already done the prompts, how fun will it be to revisit them and come up with fresh angles?

For example, when we dig back into the Story Behind Your Name prompt, you could expand on what you wrote before, or talk about a nickname, or even the origin of your child’s name. Anything about a name is fair game.

Soooo, if you have a friend who’s been wanting to explore writing, now would be the perfect time to get them to join us.

Or if you’ve been reading these emails but haven’t made the leap to the paid version of DBP, I’m tellin’ ya — THIS would be a GREAT time to dip your toes! And remember: You can opt out at any time.

Next week, we’ll start the actual reset/return to the first prompts from January, but this week, you’re invited to bring a piece of writing out of hiding. More below on that, but first:

March’s Winner!

Congratulations to the winner of this month’s Prompt-Crusher Drawing:

🎉 Jamie!!!! 🎉

You won a free haircut OR free astrology chart reading with Juliana Fox! Chiggity check out the post in the Facebook group.

April’s Prize!

If you do four out of the five prompts this month, your name will be put into a drawing for a Q&A feature in my newsletter, Behind the Mic.

This Week’s Prompt

✒️ “Hit Send” Challenge ✒️

We ALL have drafts sitting in our Notes app, Google Docs, or journals that we keep meaning to share. Find a piece you’ve been hesitating to share and do NOT polish it, edit it, or even finish it. Copy-paste it as is (or if it’s in a journal, take a picture of it.) Then, HIT SEND.

No disclaimers. No “this isn’t good enough.” JUST DONE.

Consider it a backwards spring cleaning of sorts. Pretend your archive of words is a thrift store. Do a little digging and bring that long-lost piece of writing out of hiding. Make it NEW. Bring it out of the darkness and make that beauty BLOOM.

Option B: Write a story from your list

Is there a topic on your list of 10 things that is begging to be seen? Give it a whirl this week, why don’tcha?

Have fun, good luck, and holler if you get stuck,

Brit
